A client of ours paid us a visit with his new Mercedes-Benz W205 C-Klasse with intentions to swap out his existing stock rims which are 18″ in size and deemed to small for his requirements. With dozens and dozens of fitment options in our office for his car it wasn’t easy for him to pick out a set of rims for his car. However, with our near two long decades of experience in the industry we made a recommendation for a set of HRE’s FF01 wheels for his car. While the car already looks menacing and aggressive, for us aftermarket experts, our trained and experienced eye for detail helps us pinpoint the features of a car that would take its aesthetics to the next level. In addition to that, he wanted a wheel that was ‘Blacked-out’ for an added sporty character, as such it was easy for us to recommend HRE’s FF01 wheels which were finished in their signature Tarmac Black finish.
Packing a punch that’s more than just skin deep, these HRE wheels upon the completion of their installation not only brought out enhanced aesthetics but also perfected driving dynamics. The FF01 wheel started the ball rolling as HRE’s first FlowForm wheel introduced into the segment. With a touch of retro styling cues paired up with state of the art, modern flow forming technologies, HRE was able to produce a wheel that out performs any cast formed wheel out there. This method of machining brings forward the technologies used in the manufacture of a forged wheel at a lower cost, to produce a wheel that is as light and as strong as a comparable forged wheel.
The fitment of the new wheels are measured at 8.5J x 19″ at the front with the rears equipped with 9.5J x 19″ rollers, with each weighing under 11 kilograms each thus resulting in a car that is lighter overall. The lighter weight not only improves the Merc’s handling dynamics but also reduces overall fuel consumption and drag as its lighter weight improves its efficiency.
To truly deliver upon our clients high expectations, we fitted new Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubbers to give this dynamic sedan an edge over other vehicles. Right after we wrapped up the installation of wheels and tires, we recommended our client a set of Bilstein B8 Shock Absorbers along with a set of H&R lowering springs to give it a more athletic look as well as enhanced driving dynamics.
