A Mk6 Volkswagen Golf GTi, paid us a visit some days ago, looking for a set of wheels that’ll turn up the looks of this already sporty Golf GTi and as we continued to converse with the owner of this hot hatch, the story got more and more interesting!

The elderly gentleman of which paid us a visit, bought this Golf GTi as a present for his grandson, perhaps for the festive Christmas season. In our awe and surprise, our client also noted that the stock GTi alloys were not attractive in his eyes and needed a set to sit in place of those alloys before presenting the car keys to his grandson!

A set of 18 inch wheels were demanded by our customer and we had the very best 18 inch wheel in stock, built specifically for this Golf! The 18 inch size was also selected by our client to assure his grandson peace of mind, without having to worry about an uncomfortable ride or damaged tires through our harsh Malaysian roads. Mid this year, Vorsteiner USA launched the V-FF 108 wheel as their exclusive wheel design offered in an 18 inch size. Our client glanced at the wheel and immediately knew that it would suit the sportiness on the GTi!

Finished exclusively in Vorsteiner’s Signauture Carbon Graphite finish, the wheel’s design and colour complements the body colour and character of our clients Golf GTi! The V-FF 108 is a particularly sharp and pointed design that bridges the gap between their curved designs. This rounded but yet edgy design ethic is ideal for the sharper lines and chiseled chins on specific vehicles such as this Golf.

Fitted at 8J x 18″ at all four corners, each wheel weighs only, 8.8 kilograms! The weight saving translates into  a massive reduction of unsprung weight. From a technical perspective, the weight of a vehicle is only supported by shock absorbers and springs. Wheels, brakes and other associated components has no support at all and therefore, the reduction in weight via the installation of these V-FF 108 wheels result in the Golf having an incredible form of responsiveness. The Golf’s turn in is massively improved with more immediacy in response and this one one of the ways golf owners may be able to improve their handling characteristics which is the reason a handful of golf owners have decided to stick with 18 inch alloys. With a good set of 18 inch alloys, the weight of each wheel is massively reduced and would be a much better solution to improve an individuals vehicle dynamics, rather than upgrading to a set of larger alloys!
