We’ve had the pleasure of working with a Porsche Cayenne of which is owned by a longtime friend and loyal customer of ours! From the first few months we opened our doors over 20 years ago of which was the time the Mercedes-Benz W203 was so popular, our client and friend had been working with us on all of his rides! Now, he’s back with a Porsche Cayenne ready to have a set of wheels, hyping up its looks!

With a new facelifted Porsche Cayenne driven by our client ready for a makeover, we then discussed on what our client was looking for. With Porsches being famous for their tight handling characteristics and a slightly firmer ride than other vehicles out there, out client was looking to upgrade the size of his wheels without jeopardizing too much ride comfort. As such with the stock wheels sized at 20 inches, we discussed and then decided to upgrade the wheels to a 21 inch set of wheels in order to preserve the Porsche’s ride comfort.

As for 21 inch wheels, Vorsteiner exclusively manufactures their famed V-FF 103 wheel in a fitment and application size specific for the Porsche Cayenne! Meaner, sportier, wider and as always mentioned, lighter than ever the V-FF 103 wheels are Vorsteiner’s best selling wheels and for good reason, they feature a weight figure that’s lighter than a comparable, similarly categorized wheel!

The stock wheels stand no chance in competing with the Vorsteiner alloys! With the wheels sized at 10J x 21 inches, each wheel weighs just over 11 kilograms and thats a weight saving of about 35% over the stock 20 inch Cayenne alloys! The weight savings aren’t just a gimmick as, Vorsteiner’s concern is with the production of the very best and lightest wheels out there. This manufacturing method translates into a wheel that’s drastically light than other wheels out there which improve vehicular dynamics massively! Speaking from a mechanical point of view, the weight of a vehicle is supported by its suspension components (e.g. shock absorbers, springs & etc.), however nothing else is able to hold up or support the weight of a vehicle’s wheels. The low weight figure of the wheels enable a vehicle to push harder, handle better and all thanks to weight reduction!

However, its not just about the technical performance of the wheels in question. Buying a wheel involves a whole lot of personal emotions. You don’t just swap out a set of wheels because it makes sense, but also because you love the aesthetics and design of the wheel in question. The design of these wheels combined with its technical capabilities, results in this wheel design being one of the most popular wheels out there! The aggressive offsets manufactured into the design of the V-Ff 103 wheels enables the wheel to be fitted perfectly flush to the fenders of the Cayenne! The five Y-spoke design is uniquely aggressive and the Carbon Graphite wheel finish selected by our client not only matches the Porsche’s paintwork but also beautifies the wheel itself!

As a whole, as we photographed the Cayenne adorned with its new alloys, the perfect fitment of the wheels completely fills the wheel wells and sits perfectly aligned with the fenders of the Cayenne giving it a broader outlook. The wider width also enables the installation of larger tyres which are able to enhance the handling and road holding characteristics of this large SUV! We wrapped up our client’s set of alloys with a set of Pirelli P-Zero tires which works in tandem with the lightweight wheels of which should give the Porsche the handling edge on the curviest roads!
