Saturday Throwback: BMW F30 320d Equipped With Vorsteiner V-FF 106 Wheels
We had a great time on Saturday spicing up yet another BMW 3-Series, but this time its an BMW 320d M-Sport in Estoril Blue. World renowned, the 3-Series has always been the benchmark sports sedan in the segment. Though its capabilities are relentless as a sports sedan, we knew exactly just how we could make it better…
We’ve received dozens and dozens of calls and inquiries on F30 upgrades. As always, most of the inquiries we receive are on the F30’s suspension systems and wheels. However, when this client approached us looking for a set of lightweight wheels, we knew that we were in store for yet another Vorsteiner makeover. With the V-FF 106 being Vorsteiner’s latest wheel addition into their flow forged wheel lineup, this client of ours leaned heavily towards this particular design.
Our client was very impressed with the Vorsteiner wheel lineup, especially with all their rigidity and performance but with several choices to pick from, our client took three hours to decide. In the end, with the V-FF 106 being the latest iteration in to Vorsteiner’s flow forged wheel line, he picked that over the others. In fact, from our personal opinion, the design of the V-FF 106 makes it look larger in size than the others. Plus, with its new wheels finished in Carbon Graphite, it instantly hypes up this F30’s cool factor. In the auto industry, less weight is the key to better performance and with these wheels shaving off excess weight, this F30 is able to perform better than its stock setup. With less weight holding it back, the car is able to turn in quicker and accelerate faster out of every corner.
The V-FF 106, boasts a few new aesthetic touches to make it stand out amongst its other siblings. One example is, the Vorsteiner Spline logo carved on to the front face of the wheel which is exclusive to this particular wheel design. As its other siblings, Vorsteiner wheels always incorporate their signature deep concaved body and ultra lightweight construction. Its proprietary aluminium alloy compound and advanced manufacturing process enables their wheels to be exceptionally light but at the same time very rigid. In this particular F30 application, the wheel’s fitment is measured at 8.5J x19″ front and 10J x 19″ in the rear, giving it a staggered layout. Both front wheels weigh under 10 kilograms, while the rear wheels weigh 10.93 kilograms each which contributes to an overall weight saving of over 30-40% on each wheel compared to the stock M-Sport wheels. Finishing up the installation, we wrapped up these alloys with Michelin Pilot Super Sport wheels for an added level of performance.
After the installation, our client reported a drastic difference in driving performance and feel. He was very impressed with the reduction in weight translating into a massive difference in performance. Without a doubt, he was more than satisfied with his decision.
