The GTI is one of most popular Hot Hatches in the world. With 220hp coming from its 2.0 litre engine, it reaches 100km/h in 6.5 seconds. That said, despite its blistering performance, the GTI boasts an elegant and rather understated look. The owner of this particular GTI approached us, seeking advice on improving the look of the car, much in stock form. Our suggestion was to fit 19 inch wheels, but the owner preferred 18 inch wheels to save cost on his tires and to preserve the ride comfort. With that in mind, to suit it’s colour, we suggested a set of 18 inch BBS XA wheels that would suit the car perfectly.
These BBS XA wheels, measured at 8.5J x 18″ at all four corners, gives this GTI more character. With more enhanced aesthetics, courtesy of those BBS wheels, it brings forward a more sporty and dynamic appearance. Its looks, are one of a kind with its combination of colours which are Night Fever Black on the base main body, and Polished Aluminium on the spokes. As it is, the design of the wheels are unique but with the addition of the dual colours on the wheels, its wow-factor is turned up a notch. As a side benefit, with BBS being a longtime manufacturer of die-cast wheels, their construction technology that consists of aluminium alloy, ensures that the toughness and durability of these wheels will be able to take the battering of our Malaysian “pothole-filled” roads. For that extra touch of performance, those wheels were wrapped up with Continental’s ContiSportContact 3 tires, for limitless driver control.
